How to Get a Scholarship No Matter What Your Financial Situation

In this article today I'd like to talk about several tips, tricks, and tactics that you can use to get yourself or your child a college scholarship no matter what your financial background is at the moment.
It seems like the cost of just about everything is rising through the roof these days and no more so is this the case than in college education. On average you can expect the cost of college to increase at least 6% a year forever which is sometimes faster than the rate of inflation in the general overall economy.
And the best schools in the country are always going to be massively expensive. Most of your top 10 to 15 schools, including the Ivy League schools, are going to cost you about $50-$60,000 per year and that's just in 2010. You can expect it to go up next year and every year thereafter.
Luckily there are many scholarship opportunities for just about anybody no matter what your financial background is. Most people don't realize that scholarships are not just for people without money. Just about anybody qualifies for some sort of scholarship.
There are many corporate scholarships available that are given by businesses, sometimes a local small-town businesses and other times massive multinational corporations; and many of these scholarships don't look at income at all but rather look at the child's grades and letters of recommendation and sometimes a written essay.
The amount of these scholarships can often vary. Sometimes they offer full ride scholarships, but most of the time these scholarships are for smaller amounts between $500 and $1000 and sometimes up to $2000 depending on the company. Many times corporations give out several smaller scholarships as opposed to one big large scholarship because the more scholarships they give out, the greater chance of free advertising they receive by having their name mentioned several different times for several different small scholarships in the local newspapers.
If you have several companies in the area that you live, try contacting their personnel or employee benefits office to inquire about any scholarship opportunities. If you live in an area that has many different companies like a major city, the best bet is to talk to your school guidance counselor or a college financial aid department and they can usually give you all the information you need to apply for as many of these types of scholarships as are available.
You can always search online as well for scholarship opportunities, and as this is becoming more and more easy it may be the first place you want to check. A simple search at Google should get you started. Don't be afraid to apply for dozens of these scholarships or more!
There you have several very simple ways to find scholarships no matter what your financial background happens to be.
